Definition of Persona :
A persona is a fictional character created by a company in order to know and understand its target customer. The idea is to create a "robot portrait" of your prospect, in order to adapt your communication strategy to his needs, desires, problems...
Objective: Communicate with your prospects in a relevant and appropriate way.
Let's get started!
3 steps to create a Persona 🌟 and determine your ideal customer!
1- Who are your prospects? 🎯 First step to create your persona
It may sound silly, but it's essential to ask yourself this question (and try to answer it in detail).
Indeed, to understand who you're addressing (via your social networks or your website), to understand who your prospects are, here are the questions you need to ask yourself:
Is your target male or female?
What age range?
Which socio-professional category?
Where do you live?
Hobbies...
You probably already have a better understanding of the idea of the profile. All this information will enable you to better understand who you're talking to, and therefore to talk to them better!
Of course, you can have several different personas for the same offer (product or service) 🌞
PS: In that case, you'll certainly need to communicate with them in a differentiated way.
2- What are its motivations? 🌟
Once you know a little more about your persona, you can ask yourself what motivates it 🌞
Here, you'll ask yourself:
Why would your persona want to test your product or service?
What would make them want to come to you rather than your competitor?
What experience is he looking for?
What matters most to them?
By asking yourself all these questions, you'll gain a better understanding of what motivates your prospect's decisions.
PS: It will also help you think about your offer. What are your strong points? How can you differentiate yourself?
It will then be easy to know which aspects to focus on to make your communication more effective.
And effective communication means more prospects who turn into customers. 😁
3- What are the obstacles? 🌈
To finish off the robot portrait of your prospect, here you're going to ask yourself what could potentially hold him back from consuming your product or service.
What are his fears?
What difficulties does he face in his daily life?
What obstacles might prevent them from choosing your product or service?
What are his constraints (financial, emotional...)?
What might he have doubts about?
As a professional in your field, you'll probably find it easier to complete this part. After all, these are usually the questions and objections you're confronted with on a daily basis.
By understanding these obstacles, you'll be able to adjust your communication to show how your offer can solve their problems.
If possible, use feedback from current customers to refine your persona. Testimonials, reviews and comments can provide practical information about your customers' actual experiences.
So here's a recap of the three key steps to creating your persona:
Once you've created your persona, share it with key members of your team to get feedback. Make sure the persona is realistic, credible and understandable to all those who will use it in your communication strategy.
By following these steps, you'll be able to define a detailed and relevant persona to effectively guide your communication. The key lies in thorough research, empathetic understanding of your audience and the ability to create a faithful representation of your ideal customers.
